A drawer organiser can use standard grid pieces throughout, or use fitted outer pieces to make better use of the space at the edges. Both options lift out for cleaning. The difference is how freely you can rearrange the pieces afterwards.
Two ways to fit your drawer
- Standard: every module and base uses the regular 29.5 mm grid. Choose this when you want the most flexibility to rearrange your layout or move modules into another compatible drawer. Space left beyond the whole grid remains at the perimeter.
- True to Size: eligible outer pieces and the matching base are extended towards the far edges of your drawer. Ordinary interior modules keep their standard grid footprint. Choose this when making use of the edge space matters more than moving those fitted pieces around.
True to Size is a free fit option for eligible Drawer Builder layouts. The Builder shows the finished footprint before you order, so you can compare both choices for your own measurements.
What changes with True to Size?
The pieces that meet an adjusted outer edge gain the extra space needed for that position. Their footprint is tailored to the agreed layout, so they may not fit elsewhere in the grid. If a piece meets two adjusted edges, both dimensions can change.
The ordinary interior modules remain standard. You can rearrange those wherever their footprint fits. The fitted base follows the finished drawer footprint and still comes out when needed.
Nothing is bonded into your drawer. Lift the trays out, wipe them with a damp cloth, and put each fitted edge piece back in its agreed position.
Why is the finished size a little smaller?
True to Size includes room for fitting. Where the whole-grid remainder is greater than 2 mm, that dimension is adjusted to your entered internal measurement minus 1 mm. A dimension with a remainder of 2 mm or less stays on the standard grid.
For example, a drawer measuring 525 mm wide × 585 mm deep takes a Standard footprint of 501.5 × 560.5 mm. Both remainders qualify for adjustment, so True to Size finishes at 524 × 584 mm. Only one dimension changes if only one qualifies.
Enter your actual clear internal measurements. The fitting rule includes its own allowance; there is no need to subtract it yourself.
Which option should I choose?
If you have settled on your arrangement and want to use the edge space, True to Size is usually the useful choice. If you expect to change drawers or regularly swap the outer pieces around, Standard keeps every module on the same grid.
Have sloping sides, rounded corners or a ledge inside the drawer? The footprint alone cannot confirm that a rectangular tray will clear them. Follow the illustrated measuring guide and check the space over the tray’s full height.
