IKEA® MAXIMERA is the drawer-box system used inside IKEA® METOD kitchen cabinets. Each MAXIMERA drawer is a self-contained box with side-mounted soft-close runners and standardised internal dimensions — which makes the system one of the easiest UK kitchen drawers to fit a custom organiser to, since the dimensions are predictable across millions of kitchens.
The MAXIMERA size system
MAXIMERA drawers come in three heights:
- MAXIMERA low — internal depth ~7cm. Best for cutlery, utensils, flat tools.
- MAXIMERA medium — internal depth ~13cm. Most common; supports stacked tiers.
- MAXIMERA high — internal depth ~17cm. Tall items, cookware, knife blocks with deep handles.
Cabinet widths come in 40cm, 60cm, and 80cm. Internal drawer width is roughly 5cm less than the cabinet face (runners + box wall). So a 60cm METOD cabinet has a MAXIMERA drawer with ~55cm internal width.
Why MAXIMERA suits modular organisers
- Predictable internal dimensions. A 60cm MAXIMERA medium has the same internal box across all UK installations. Once you know the measurement, the fit is repeatable.
- Soft-close runners standard. Lower slam force; modules stay calmer.
- Full-extension by default. Every cell of the drawer is visible from above when the drawer is fully open.
Modu Drawer's MAXIMERA fits
Four Drawer-Fit Packs are sized for MAXIMERA medium 60×60:
- Cook's Drawer Pack — knife block + cutlery + utility
- Cutlery Drawer Pack 80×60 — full cutlery library
- Junk Drawer (Tamed) Pack — cables, batteries, small tools
- Knife Drawer Pack for MAXIMERA high — deep block storage
For other MAXIMERA sizes (40cm, 100cm cabinets, low or high variants), use the drawer builder with the internal measurement.
