How do I stop a drawer organiser from sliding around?

Drawer organisers slide around for one of two reasons: the organiser doesn't fit the drawer, or it's a tray that wasn't designed to be held in place. Both have a fix.

The fit problem

An adjustable plastic tray that's 5 cm narrower than the drawer leaves 5 cm of slop — the tray rides up the moment the drawer slams. The fix is a tighter fit. Modu Drawer's grid base is sized to your drawer's internal length and width, so the modules sit flush against the drawer walls with nowhere to slide.

The hold problem

Most cutlery trays are loose objects sitting in a drawer — nothing holds them down. Modu Drawer modules slot into the grid base and stay there, even when you slam the drawer or yank a fork bay out for the dishwasher.

Quick fixes for the tray you already own

If you're not ready to switch, two short-term fixes:

  • Non-slip drawer liner. A 30×150 cm roll fits most drawers and adds friction under the tray.
  • Foam wedges in the gaps. Cut craft foam to fill the slop between tray and drawer wall.

Both are short-term — the liner shifts over time and the foam compresses. If you want the drawer to stop rattling for good, the long-term fix is an organiser sized to your drawer.
